On the road again!
The Allen Americans will kick off their first game tonight in Idaho on a long journey that will take them across the Continental Divide twice and through at least twelve states. The Americans enter tonight’s game against Idaho winners of two straight, after sweeping Rapid City last weekend in Allen. This is the first of six straight road games that will see stops in Utah, Rapid City and Colorado. This the longest road trip in the nine-year history of the franchise.
“We know it’s important to get off to a good start on this trip,” said Americans Captain Joel Chouinard. “Although we’re looking up at a few teams right now in the division, we also know we’re still right there in the thick of it.”
The Americans have added four new (and old) faces of late, with the addition of goalie Jake Paterson, and forwards Thomas Frazee, Alex Carrier (Carrie-AY) and Tristan King. King is back for a second stint with Allen after being acquired from Quad City over the weekend for future considerations.
“I’m so happy to be back in Allen”, said Tristan King. “Brooke (King) and I have so many great memories from winning a championship here a couple years ago. I’m excited to get back on the ice in that red sweater and help this club have a long playoff run.”
The Americans currently sit in sixth place in the division. However, they’re only five points out of third place with a log-jam between 3 and 6. Allen trails Tulsa and Utah by just a point with two games in-hand on both clubs.
Watch tonight’s game on ECHL TV with Tommy Daniels calling the action from Boise beginning at 7:50 pm with the pregame show. You can listen for FREE on Mixlr.com.
Upon returning to Allen the Americans will be active in the community immediately. This week the Americans announced their first ever School Fundraising Challenge coming Wednesday, March 28th when the team hosts the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 pm. As part of the Allen Americans commitment to investing in the local community, the team will be donating a significant portion of ticket sales for the game, as well as donating an additional $500 to the winning school.
Allen Americans School Fundraising Challenge is open to any area school. Staff, teachers, students, families, and friends can purchase special $15 tickets for the Americans game against Wichita on 3/28 with $5 going back to the school of their choice. To sweeten the deal, the Americans will donate $500 to the school with the most tickets sold and invite the principle of the winning school to perform the game’s ceremonial puck drop.
