From the NFL to the PGA
Although Tony Romo started his first round at 5 over in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship, he maintained even par through the front 9. After opening with bogies on holes 1 and 2, Romo came back with 2 birdies on 4 and 5 to make the turn at even.
“That’s just nerves, and hopefully you can get that out of the way,” Romo said. “I kind of knew that the most difficult part really would be the opening holes just in the sense of getting yourself comfortable and acclimated to the environment. Then in some ways it’s as simple as just getting the speed of the greens down. I just left too many putts short today.”
Romo received a sponsor’s exemption into the tournament.
Groups are also underway in Austin at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play. Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm have already been eliminated. Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia and Jordan Spieth are some of the bigs names to name a few. Next week we look forward to the Houston Open prepping the players for the upcoming Masters.
