Tiger is back & Bill Haas in wreck on eve of Riviera

One the eve of the Genesis Open at the Riviera Country Club, Bill Haas was injured in a fatal car crash Tuesday evening near Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

35-year old Haas was a passenger in a vehicle that apparently crashed into an oncoming vehicle and rolling it. One person was pronounced dead, while Haas and a 50 year-old female was taken to the hospital. It was reported that Haas was released.

We all hope Bill Haas and all others involved are alright.

On another note, Tiger Woods will be paired with Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy. Unfortunately, Tiger’s history at Riviera has been dismal. On Riviera, he has had the most starts on a single golf course without a win, but Tiger has been known to surprise.

“I love the golf course, I love the layout, it fits my eye – and I play awful. It’s very simple,” Woods said Tuesday while prepping for this week’s Genesis Open. “It’s just one of those weird things.”

It’s been over four years since a win for 47 year-old Mickelson, but he has been playing very well over the last few weeks.Mickelson won Riviera in 2008 & 2009.

“I don’t think it’s going to take much different than the way I played the last couple of weeks and Riviera is a golf course that I played very well in the past, I like a lot, I know a lot of the nuances in it,” Mickelson said. “It’s a perfect course for those that are striking it well. And right now I’m hitting it as well as I have in a long time.”
