Dallas Natives Compete in Russia at the IIHF U18 Womens World Championship
Ally Simpson and Hanna Bilka, Dallas area natives, helped bring the Gold home from Russia. It was the USA vs. Sweden for the U18WWC Gold Medal Game in Dmitrov, Russia. The USA had to beat Canada in a SO and came back from a 3-1 deficit in the 3rd period to do it. For the first time in U18WWC history, it was not a USA vs. Canada final. Instead, Canada played Russia in the Bronze Medal Game and Canada prevailed 5-1.
SUI survived regulation with a 2 game sweep over GER in the Regulation Series. This sends GER down to the 2019 U18WWC Division 1A Tournament.
The USA captured an unprecedented fourth consecutive gold medal with a 9-3 win over Sweden. The victory gave the United States its seventh title in the event’s 11-year history after also claiming gold in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Local Dallas players Ally Simpson and Hanna Bilka assisted in the making the USA proud of their U18WWC Champions. As a team, the United States led the tournament with 26 goals scored and a goal differential of +/- 14, in addition to being tied for the tournament lead with eight power-play goals.
