Allen Americans Finally back at Home

The Allen Americans fell to the Fort Wayne Comets on Sunday night by a score of 4-1.  Allen has now lost four straight games, dropping them to 20-16-4-1.

Both teams went scoreless in the first period, but Fort Wayne piled on the shots with 17.  Jeremy Brodeur was able to stop all of them, until 12:43 into the second period, when Fort Wayne got on the board first.  Less than a minute later, the Americans were able to answer with a goal of their own, scored by Casey Pierro-Zabotel. Pierro-Zabotel now has a league-leading 47 points on the season thus far.  The Comets finished off the second period with another goal, which would put them up 2-1 heading into the second period.

Fort Wayne carried their offense pressure into the third period, firing shot after shot on Brodeur.  Ten minutes in, the Comets scored another goal, just as Moore was coming out of the penalty box to put them up 3-1.  From here, the Americans picked up their physicality, but it was little too late, and ultimately lost the game 4-1.  Allen was also doubled up on shots 36-18.
