Last weekend the Courts of McKinney held a Rally for Houston in order to help Houston residents, who were effected by Hurricane Harvey. Many tennis members and enthusiasts attended and donated to the cause. Matt Hanlin, the director of the facility organized the event, which included tennis activities for all ages. The evening kicked off with kids having a good time on the courts, a silent auction and dinner.

The highlight of the evening was a doubles competition between Matt Hanlin, Director of Tennis at the Courts of Mckinney teamed with Benjamin Becker, ATP Champion against Izak Van Der Merwe and Andreas Indriago, both Davis Cup and ATP players, in an exhibition match. Although the night was for fun and charity, these guys are still pros and the intensity level and the element of competition and beating your opponent was still looming in these great tennis players.

Rick Duncan of said “we started in order to bring the essence of sports to local sports enthusiasts and at the Courts of McKinney Saturday night that is just what we did. I never get tired of publicizing a good cause that involves the youth and watching the intensity of pro athletes compete. Regardless of the competition, whether it be an exhibition or for money and a trophy, the true essence of a great athlete is to play at their best and these 4 guys didn’t disappoint.”
